FE Trustnet verdict
Overall, performing better than the peer group composite. However, over a fairly lengthy track record, the manager has, period by period, over- and under-performed roughly equally. Good stockpicking has had a material positive impact on results, which have not been particularly exposed to falling markets.
Manager profile
Ben Leyland will be Senior Fund Manager of the JOHCM Global Opportunities strategy which is due to launch in Q2 2012. He will be assisted by Robert Lancastle (Analyst). Ben also supports John Wood in the running of the JOHCM UK Opportunities strategy. Prior to joining JOHCM, Ben worked at Schroder Investment Management, from October 2001 to 2006, in their equity research department. As an analyst in their financials team, he was responsible for covering UK diversified financials and southern European banks. Ben is a CFA charterholder and holds a MA (Hons) in History from the University of Cambridge.

Performance vs peer group composite: Ben Leyland
How a manager matches up against his peers gives you some idea of how talented he is. Very few managers perform equally well in rising and falling markets, so knowing which type of market a manager is capable of performing well within is also important.
