	FE Trustnet verdict Overall, performing better than the peer group composite. However, over a long track record, the manager has, period by period, consistently underformed the peer group. Good stockpicking has had a material positive impact on results, which have not been particularly exposed to falling markets.

Manager profile

Tom’s investment career began in 1988 with INVESCO/Perpetual. In 1999, he joined Close Brothers, working on the development of structured products for the UK retail market. After leaving Close, Tom moved to Miton Investments where, as co-fund manager to the Special Situations & Strategic fund he helped grow assets on from £4m to £50m and from £3m to £120m: both funds being ranked 1st and 12th respectively within the balanced managed sector, an achievement that led to him winning Investment Week’s Asset Allocator of the Year 2006 award. Having become a Citywire AA-rated fund manager, in November 2006 Tom launched Miton's first Multi Asset Class fund - the CF Miton Arcturus fund. Under Tom's management, the fund ranked top quartile from launch. In November 2008 Tom co-founded Apollo Multi Asset management, a UK domiciled and authorised, privately owned company where he is a partner.
