FE Trustnet verdict
Overall, performing better than the peer group composite. However, over a long track record, the manager has underperformed the peer group more often than not. Good stockpicking has had a material positive impact on results, which have tended to be relatively better in a falling market.
Manager profile
Bill is a founding member of PSigma Asset Management and has invested his own SIPP into the fund. He has aligned his interests with those of our investors and focuses entirely on managing the money. Bill Mott is one of the best known equity income fund managers in the UK market, having spent 30 years at Credit Suisse. Previous to 2003 when he moved to a strategic advisory position; Bill was the day to day fund manager of the company’s two equity income funds, Income and Monthly Income, which were among the best long-term performers in their sector. He has also managed smaller companies, growth and ethical funds with impressive track records. Bill has won several major industry awards during his career to date including Specialist Manager of the Year from “Investment Week” as well as team awards from the Sunday Times. He has a first class honours degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Quantum Physics. Bill is a keen West Ham United fan.

Performance vs peer group composite: Bill Mott
How a manager matches up against his peers gives you some idea of how talented he is. Very few managers perform equally well in rising and falling markets, so knowing which type of market a manager is capable of performing well within is also important.
