FE Trustnet verdict
Overall, performing better than the peer group composite. However, over a long track record, the manager has, period by period, over- and under-performed roughly equally. Stockpicking has not really benefited results, which have tended to be relatively better in a rising market.
Manager profile
Adam Parker is a Director of Majedie Asset Management. He is a fund manager and analyst with 24 years’ investment experience in UK equity markets. Adam is responsible for managing the UK Opportunities Fund and high performance long-only mandates for institutional clients investing in the UK Equity Service and UK Focus Portfolio. Before co-founding Majedie in 2002, Adam had been a Director at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM), where he was also a member of the UK Asset Allocation Group. While at MLIM, he was responsible for managing the Alpha team’s pooled smaller companies fund and local index institutional portfolios with combined UK equity assets of £1.1bn. Adam joined Mercury Asset Management (subsequently acquired by Merrill Lynch) in 1987. He holds a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from St Catherine’s College, Oxford. Performance vs peer group composite: Adam Parker
How a manager matches up against his peers gives you some idea of how talented he is. Very few managers perform equally well in rising and falling markets, so knowing which type of market a manager is capable of performing well within is also important.
