Manager profile
Philip Gibbs joined Jupiter in 1997 and is head of Jupiter’s Financial Equities Team. The team includes Guy de Blonay and Robert Mumby. Between them, they have more than 70 years’ experience in the financials industry. Philip manages the Jupiter Absolute Return Fund (Unit Trust) and the Jupiter Second Split Trust PLC. He has extensive experience as a stockbroking analyst specialising in UK financial company equities, and worked in relevant roles between 1983 and 1997 for both BZW and Laing and Cruickshank. During his time at Jupiter, he has gained a reputation for his macroeconomic calls and willingness to restructure his portfolio in anticipation of significant changes in market sentiment, and did so successfully in 2008 at the height of the credit crisis. Philip has a degree in History from Cambridge University.In 1983 he qualified as a chartered accountant with Peat Marwick Mitchell. Between 1983 and 1990 he worked for Laing and Cruickshank as a stockbroking analyst specialising in equities of UK financial companies. Between 1990 and 1997 he performed the same role for BZW.
