Reforms announced in the budget are expected to lead to a huge increase in the number of people managing their own pensions before and after they retire.

Everyone who retires after April next year will no longer have to buy an annuity, a freedom that was previously only available to those who met certain criteria.

This is likely to lead to a surge of new money into funds as investors seek more flexible products with the possibility of capital growth.

However, with this freedom comes a new responsibility for managing your own money if you are unable or unwilling to pay for advice.

Over the coming weeks FE Trustnet will be focusing on the issues faced by pension investors and the funds that offer the best solutions.

If you are growing a pension pot for retirement or in managed drawdown – where you take out some of your savings in income each year and invest the rest – we want to know which funds you are using and for which purpose.

Leave a comment below or send us an email at editorial@financialexpress.net and we’ll have your picks analysed by the experts.
