The top rated managers shortlisted in the FE Alpha Manager of the Year Awards

23 February 2016

With the FE Alpha Manager Awards to be held on 14 April, FE reveals the 79 fund managers that are in the running across 16 categories.

Neil Woodford, Richard Woolnough, Nick Train, Alex Wright and Crispin Odey are among those shortlisted in this year’s FE Alpha Manager of the Year Awards, which aim to highlight some of the best investment management talent in the industry today.

The awards, which are in their second year, span 16 categories including FE Alpha Manager of the Year, Best New FE Alpha Manager, Best in a Bull Market and Best in UK Equity Income. The winners will be announced at the FE Alpha Manager Awards on 14 April 2016 at City Hall.

FE Research’s Charles Younes (pictured) said: “The FE Alpha Manager ratings recognise a manager’s ability to create risk-adjusted alpha, outperformance in both rising and falling markets, and those who consistently beat their sector peers.”

“The FE Alpha Manager awards recognise the very best talent in our industry – those who can combine consistency with phenomenal outperformance over the past year. No small feat if you take into consideration the truly difficult market conditions that they have had to navigate since last summer.”

The shortlist started with the FE Alpha Manager ratings – which rate the performance of a fund manager over their career including all funds they have managed and places worked and are built around consistent outperformance of a benchmark and risk-adjusted alpha – before being refined through qualitative analysis.
