FE Trustnet verdict
Overall, performing better than the peer group composite. Over a long track record, the manager has outperformed the peer group more often than not. There is not sufficient data to say whether good stockpicking has had any real effect on results, which have tended to be relatively better in a rising market.
Manager profile
Robert Siddles is an equity fund manager specialising in US smaller companies. Prior to joining F&C in 2001, he spent nine years at Gartmore Investment Management, the last five as head of US equities. Before this he spent five years at Capel-Cure Myers Capital Management as a US portfolio manager and three years at Coopers & Lybrand. Robert has an MA and DPhil from the University of Oxford and is a qualified chartered accountant.

Performance vs peer group composite: Robert Siddles
How a manager matches up against his peers gives you some idea of how talented he is. Very few managers perform equally well in rising and falling markets, so knowing which type of market a manager is capable of performing well within is also important.
