How to make better-informed investment decisions
13 August 2012
Today sees the launch of a new version of Fundswire on FE Trustnet, a system that lets you track the funds that matter the most to you. FE group editor Pascal Dowling explains how it works…
I could leave it there but our research into your habits and tastes, dear reader, suggests that the vast majority of you think Twitter is something your teenage daughters do, so here – in a nutshell – is how it works.
The idea is that you can "follow" any fund on FE Trustnet and by doing so you get up-to-date news on all the issues that are relevant to you.
That means if a fund you are interested in sees its performance improve markedly, like Neil Woodford’s Invesco Perpetual Income and High Income funds, which last week became first-quartile performers over a three-year period, you will get an alert to let you know.
Likewise if a fund drops out of the second quartile, like Neptune Income did last month, you will want to know and we will send you an alert like this one immediately – so you can take appropriate steps to protect your portfolio.
Fundswire isn’t just about performance. If you are following a fund or investment trust, we will ensure that you never miss important announcements. This means you will be alerted to interim and final results, management statements and RNS announcements as they happen, with alerts like this.
It also lets you keep a track of the men behind the money. Whenever a fund manager leaves, arrives, or is joined by a co-manager you will receive an alert like this one about Ignis star Barry Norris, linked to a detailed manager factsheet so you can see exactly who is responsible for your wealth.
FE Trustnet’s bias-free quant ratings – FE Crown Fund Ratings – are also included, so you can ensure you are the first to know of any downgrades, like the one that affected Norris’ fund, Ignis Argonaut European Alpha, when they occur.
You can browse the latest Fundswire alerts here, but a far better approach would be to sign up for a free account with FE Trustnet – it only takes five minutes – and start following specific funds that you are really interested in here. That way you will only see the announcements that are relevant to you.
More than one-hundred thousand people have already signed up for a free account with FE Trustnet, and we don’t share their details with anyone. You can trust us to treat your details with the same respect.
Sign up here today, add some funds to your alerts, and if you have the time, drop us an email at editorial@financialexpress.net to let us know what you think.
