Jupiter Asset Management has hired Piers Hillier as its new chief investment officer, with the former Royal London Asset Management executive set to join the firm in February 2026.

Hillier will oversee Jupiter’s investment teams, lead the development of new investment propositions and refine existing processes as the firm looks to broaden its appeal to a wider client base. After he joins Jupiter, the current heads of equities and fixed income, Kiran Nandra and Matthew Morgan, will depart the firm “after an appropriate handover period”.

Hillier brings more than three decades of experience in asset management, including senior roles at Kames Capital, LV= Asset Management, WestLB, Deutsche Asset Management and Schroders. He joined Royal London in 2015 and most recently served as CIO, where he chaired the investment committee and managed the firm’s investment teams.

Matthew Beesley, chief executive of Jupiter, said: “The appointment of Piers fits our strategy of seeking to attract the very best talent in active investment management. The quality and differentiated nature of our investment capabilities is what sets Jupiter apart and I’m confident that, given his deep experience at various high-quality firms, spanning multiple economic cycles and working closely with both institutional and retail clients, Piers will help us accelerate this evolution even faster."

The move follows a series of changes at Jupiter aimed at enhancing its active investment proposition. These include hiring managers such as Alex Savvides, Adrian Gosden and Niall Gallagher, acquiring the global equities team from Origin Asset Management and agreeing to acquire CCLA Investment Management, subject to regulatory approval.

Hillier said: “I am delighted to be joining Jupiter. Its focus on truly active investment management, aligned with a client-centric philosophy, means it is one of the most well-respected names in UK asset management.

“Having recently added some outstanding investment talent, along with sharpening its focus across a range of investment capabilities, it is clear that there is positive momentum at the firm. I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues to help build on this momentum, driving positive client outcomes and growth across the group.”
