Private investor case study: Region

01 November 2010

By Lora Coventry,

Senior Reporter, Financial Express

Which region do you favour, if any?

David Hughes: I spread my risks, although recently have favoured Russia, Brazil & China.

Maurice Lawson: I favour the UK, because I understand it. You can usually find good value where other people think there is no value. Investors moving into emerging markets now have missed the boat.

Simon Tizard: I like emerging markets and the Far East, and I have a large proportion of my holdings outside of the UK, mainly via ETFs, but also through investment trusts. I like these vehicles because they give wide coverage at a low cost, and cost is particularly a factor for emerging markets.
