Private investor case study: Major changes in 2010

01 November 2010

By Lora Coventry,

Senior Reporter, Financial Express

Did you make any big changes to your portfolio in 2010?

David Hughes:
Yes. I moved all my cash ISAs into stock ISAs and started to invest in the stock market again. I did this as I was getting poor returns on cash savings, and had more confidence in the markets.

Maurice Lawson: No, I just kept building on my commercial property portfolio. I how have half of my equity portfolio in property.

Simon Tizard:
I completely sold out of fixed income. I prefer equities and cash because the markets have done very well, but I’m nervous about a correction before a rise. In the last quarter I completely sold out of fixed income because I felt it had done well, but with interest rates rising there was no more upside to have this year.
