FE Trustnet takes a look at this month’s most interesting appointments in the fund management and IFA industries.

Rajeev De Mello (pictured right), Schroders


ALT_TAGSchroders has hired Rajeev De Mello as head of Asian Fixed Income. He is set to join on 1 July and will be based in Singapore. He will oversee Schroders’ Asia ex-Australia fixed income investment teams.

De Mello was previously senior investment officer at Western Asset Management and, before that, head of Asian Fixed Income at Pictet Asset Management.

"We are seeing increasing demand from investors globally for access to the rapidly developing Asian bond markets; and we are experiencing increased demand from Asian investors for diversified global bond strategies," said Karl Dasher, global head of fixed income at Schroders.


Keith Busuttil (pictured below left), Dalton Strategic Partnership

ALT_TAG Busuttil has joined the European Absolute Return equities team as an analyst. He will contribute to idea generation and company research, looking for long and short investment opportunities as well as the identification of investment themes.

Busuttil brings with him seven years of industry experience. He joins DSP from The Blackstone Group, where he was vice president in the European Debt Restructuring team.


Helen Webster (pictured right), Aberdeen Life

ALT_TAGAberdeen Asset Management Life and Pensions Limited has appointed Webster as chief operating officer. She will oversee operational management and service provision and will work on strategic development of the business within Aberdeen Group. She will report to Alan Blakeley, chief executive of Aberdeen Life.

Aberdeen Life currently manages £1.9bn of assets for a wide range of pension scheme and insurance clients spread over equity, fixed income and property products.

Prior to joining Aberdeen, Helen worked at Scottish Equitable and Aegon, where she qualified as an actuary in 1998. More recently she was responsible for product development and distribution strategy at Aegon Asset Management, where she was also a director of the firm’s offshore funds business.


Bob Jolly, Schroders

Jolly will join Schroders in September as head of global macro. This new role will see Jolly take on lead portfolio management responsibility for a number of macro and multi-sector portfolios. Current mandates include aggregate, sovereign and absolute return strategies, with almost $15bn assets under management.

Jolly joins from UBS Global Asset Management where he was head of global sovereign, currency and UK fixed income portfolio management. Prior to UBS, Jolly spent more than two decades at Gartmore.


Guy Dunham, HSBC Global Asset Management

Dunham has been named as head of fixed income. In this role, he will lead the London-based team that oversees more than $7bn in assets and offers a range of fixed income portfolios including the HSBC Corporate Bond, HSBC Gilt & Fixed Interest and HSBC GIF Global Bond funds.

Dunham has approximately 20 years' experience in investment management, most recently holding the position of head of portfolio management for the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) in Basel.
