Templeton Emerging Markets is the only investment trust in the top-10 that does not sit in income or global sectors.
This penchant for global products was also reflected in the most recent IMA sales figures, which found that IMA Global was the second-best selling sector in April.
Commenting on the study, Annabel Brodie-Smith, communications director for the AIC, said: "These figures illustrate the popularity of the Global and UK sectors with investors. It is also interesting to see that half of the most widely viewed members on our website are currently on premiums, with most of these having an income focus."
"In a low interest-rate, inflationary environment, investment companies with an income-orientated focus are clearly in demand," she added.
Of the sectors that appear in the 10 most-viewed list, Global Emerging Market Equities has returned the most over a three-year period, though it has been substantially more volatile than the other three sectors.
