SCAM WARNING: FE Trustnet & Jupiter

22 August 2013

Bogus emails purporting to be from star fund manager John Chatfeild-Roberts, and claiming he works as a portfolio manager for FE Trustnet, are doing the rounds.

The team at FE Trustnet would like to warn all our users that investors are being targeted with emails from "John Chatfeild-Roberts" that claim the star fund manager, a longtime member of the Jupiter Asset Management team and chief investment officer at the group, works for FE Trustnet.

These bogus claims are supported by references to fake profiles on LinkedIn and Facebook, and we have taken steps to ensure that both sites remove these profiles.

A spokesperson for FE, which is investigating the issue, said: "While we would be proud to have Mr Chatfeild-Roberts – who has produced an annualised total return of 7.7 per cent every year for the last 12.2 years, according to data from FE – as a member of staff, we would like to stress that this is not and is very unlikely to ever be the case."

"FE Trustnet does not currently offer any transactional facilities, and we do not send unsolicited emails seeking funding of any kind, ever."
